Celebrating International Women’s Day

Carmel City Center includes many women-owned businesses that proudly serve the City of Carmel and surrounding areas. These enterprising women exemplify the innovative and community-centric values of Carmel City Center. In celebration of International Women’s Day, we are shouting out a few of the extraordinary women who provide overwhelming value to our community:

Meet Pao Baosithong, owner of Be.You.Tiful Nails. She is from Laos and has been in the United States for 15 years. She has been practicing nail care since 2009. In early 2019, she opened her own salon where she offers a variety of services including manicures, pedicures, dipping powder techniques, acrylic nails, and much more. Her state-of-the-art salon is located at Carmel City Center at 854 S Rangeline Road.

Pao’s salon meets all health requirements to keep you and their technicians safe. She provides a clean, safe, and fun environment to relax and pamper her clients. Be.You.Tiful Nails has an air evacuation system that keeps the salon well-ventilated during operation. Their facility is cleaned constantly to meet the current health codes regarding Covid-19.

Clients should expect dazzling service from Pao and her eccentric staff in a chic, comfortable environment. Pao is both consistent and engaging with her guests, creating a welcoming atmosphere for relaxation and self care. She is a valuable member of the Carmel City Center community and continues to impress.

Dani Fishman has followed in the steps of her two previous generations of family jewelers. She shaped her store Fishman Fine Jewelers with a contemporary environment and a vibe which embraces the sophistication of jewelry as art. “My designs and one-of-a-kind creations are everyday wearable and will look as great today as they will 25 years from now.”

“We don’t follow trends or promote nationally known brands. We create what we want, and as a result our clientele is excited to find jewelry they never dreamed of, from improving the classics to avant-garde. It is also a lovely journey to work with a client who commissions us to see their jewelry desire come to reality or to re-make a new piece from an old.”

“It is a privilege to grow up in our studios and workshop observing the manufacturing, production, and bringing to life jewelry from jewelers with both technical and artistic disciplines of the highest caliber.” Dani Fishman has years of practical experience and expert education. She is also a painter of large canvases with a fashion graphic expression. These paintings are displayed at her store and are continually replaced with new ones as they sell rapidly.

Melissa Butrum turned her dream of opening a clothing boutique into a reality when she opened Endeavor Boutique. With 16 years of experience in the fashion industry, Melissa knows how to build a brand. To her customers, Endeavor is much more than a boutique. It is also a community of care for women to find outfits and accessories for all occasions.

Melissa has experienced personal challenges as well that have impacted her perspective. When she lost her best friend 6 years ago, she realized that life is too short. Melissa set her dreams in motion and, with the support of her loving family, opened Endeavor Boutique in 2016 as a place for all women.

As a boutique owner, Melissa has been commended for her contribution to women’s fashion in Indianapolis by Kit Magazine and Indianapolis Monthly. She is known for being hardworking and gracious as well as maintaining integrity and balance in her business.

Carla Mackie, owner of Uplift Intimate Apparel, is not only a successful entrepreneur, she is also a inspiring individual. Her own experience with poorly-fit intimate clothing pushed her to find a solution for other women. Carla created a space for women to choose from quality, reputable brands and feel comfortable finding intimates that fit their bodies.

Not only does she show care and attention toward her clients in the shop, but she has also adapted her services to the challenges presented by Covid-19. Clients can now schedule virtual appointments and fittings in addition to shopping via Uplift’s online store. Her motivation and consideration makes it possible for clients to shop safely and comfortably during uncertain times.

Carla makes a point to give back to the community. That’s why Uplift is making contributions to Dove Recovery House for Women, a recovery housing program in Marion County.
