Carmel Farmers Market at Center Green
August 12, 2011
I’ve always liked the market, even when it was located in the City Hall parking lot, but for me, the new location at Center Green at Carmel City Center offers an entirely new experience.
The brick-paved street beneath my feet reminds me of the open-air markets in European cities like Brussels and Paris. Even some of the food items continue a Euro theme like the homemade pasta, liege waffles and baklava, just to name a few. However, you can also find distinctly American flavors including barbecue and kettle corn, and there’s even a little Mexico and South America with the fresh salsa. It’s like a round-the-world tour without the jet lag.
The new location has allowed the market to expand its offering of vendors. It now has more than 60 of them. Of course, you can always find quality, locally-grown produce but you’ll also discover many surprising treats. I’m convinced that the Carmel Farmers Market gets better every time I attend as I always seem to leave with something new to enjoy.
